SAP: checkpoints, outcomes, and signatures
For faculty & academic staff · Updated September 30, 2026
How Satisfactory Academic Progress is computed, the checkpoint calendar, letters and appeals, and advisor sign-off.
Satisfactory Academic Progress is computed, not guessed. Atticus combines each student’s real attendance with their real Moodle grades and applies your school’s thresholds.
The checkpoint calendar
Checkpoints run automatically at 25%, 50%, and 75% of each cohort’s dates. The calendar on the SAP page shows each one as run, due, or upcoming.
Outcomes
- Satisfactory — no action needed.
- Warning — an intervention opens, and a warning letter is drafted from the student’s actual numbers and emailed.
- Probation — same, with a probation letter. Letters carry a 10-day appeal deadline, tracked in the letters and appeals register.
Sign the evaluation
An advisor signs each evaluation, and it locks with the signature. Unsigned evaluations older than 48 hours appear in the daily digest.
